Democratic control of the Armed and Security Forces
  • To impart the concept of "Innere Führung/Citizen in uniform" in the ranks in general and the senior officers of the Armed Forces in particular and thus enlighten on democratic institutions and their operating mode
  • To consolidate the knowledge of the rights and duties of the citizen in uniform in a democratic context
  • To reinforce the military elites' knowledge of the democratic modes of control of the Armed Forces and to provide a forum for exchanges between them and the politicians
Strengthening of Democratic institutions and processes: Constitutional state, Political parties and Elections
  • To contribute to the enlightenment of the basics of the Constitutional State and the workings of its institutions
  • To improve the understanding of the tasks of the political parties for a better visibility and impact of their actions in the Parliament
  • To support democratic elections by means of sensitisation and formation programmes for voters, among others to increase the percentage of the women share in the electoral register
  • Promotion of gender participation and equality in political party and parliamentary politics as a cross-cutting task

Promotion of Decentralisation and Participation in local government politics
  • Mobilisation of communal potentials and of development initiatives by encouraging the assumption of responsibilities and the support for political competences at the base
  • Promotion of increased participation of the local population in the process of political decision-making
  • The appropriation of local development by the citizens themselves who thus become implied and assume ownership
  • Promotion of a new and responsible citizen who assumes obligations with respect to the community of which he/she is part and parcel and defends the interests by promoting and implementing democratic values and governance

Organisational and technical capacity building of the network of privileged KAF NGO partners
  • To develop and reinforce the capacities to mobilise international funds for a better support of their community based activities
  • To reinforce the capacities of members' intervention, especially gender participation and equality
  • To improve their technical and professional conditions in order to ensure an effective system of regional communication (regional networking)
